Net Positive Suction Head, or NPSH, is the most important concept related to suction head. It tells us how much usable pressure is available at the pump inlet compared to the pressure at which the liquid starts boiling. If the available NPSH in the system is higher than the NPSH required by the pump, the pump will run safely without cavitation. If it is lower, the pump will face problems.
